This has been coming for a while, but I am scaling back my woodworking business. I am just too busy with other obligations to provide the type of service I think customers deserve. I will still be working on projects, including shaving brushes and other items. However, I will no longer be actively selling them through this site. When I have items for sale, I will post pictures of them here. If you see something you like, email me.

I will occasionally post about my work on my blog.

Finally, I will leave the rest of the site up, but won't leave any of the "buy" links live. One of these days I will reactivate things. Thanks for your interest.

At Mt. Tam Woodworks I handcraft custom Windsor chairs, tables, shaving brushes, and turned bowls. If you are looking for heirloom quality, unique wood products, then you have come to the right place.

My original motivation for handcrafting these products was for my own use. Over time I discovered a deep satisfaction in using high-quality, well-designed, and handcrafted items. For example, I have found that elegant, comfortable chairs built to be used for generations feel different than the mass produced furniture we have learned to accept in our modern society. These products are not just different, they are better.

The warmth of a hand-carved chair with claw arms is experienced by very few people today. The natural fit of a custom designed silvertip badger hair shaving brush is a luxury you didn’t know that you needed; but once you have tried it, you will wonder how you got by without it.

I built these products for myself with two objectives in mind:

Enhance the quality of my life with unique, handcrafted items that I could use every day.
Enjoy the process of building items that have lasting value.

I succeeded in these goals. In fact, I enjoyed the building process so much that I knew that I wanted to build more than I could possibly use. Which brings me to where I am today: Building beautiful and functional products that others can use.
